James was born in Winston-Salem, NC. While he has lived in various places across the country including Virginia and California, his roots in the Triad are deep and he returned to the Greensboro area in 1998 where he and his wife, Gerrie, raised their family and still reside today. Professionally, James is a member of the leadership team for a large technology services company based in Maryland.
His vocal performance experience spans 40 years going back to his high school days. Over the years his choral/musical theatre highlights include a stint as “Policeman” in a regional touring production of The Pirates of Penzance and more traditional classical literature with Ambassador Chorale, Victoria Symphony, Eastern Music Festival, Asheville Symphony, and others.
More recently, James has been a member of the Choral Society of Greensboro, under the direction of Dr. Jon Brotherton, for over 10 years and has served on the board in multiple positions including his current role as board President. Finally, James is an original member of the Greensboro Symphony Master Chorale where he has the pleasure of working with Founding Conductor, Jonathan Emmons. He is extremely excited for his first year with Gate City Voices and looks forward to the opportunity to grow with this amazing group of talented vocalists.
