George has been chorister for over 55 years. A life-long love of choral music was ignited when he joined the choir of his parish church at age seven and learned what voices united in song can evoke. He has performed with a wide variety of church, school, and community music and theater ensembles in his native New Jersey, as well as in Middle Tennessee, where he and his wife, Betty, lived and worked for over 25 years.
George performed and competed as member of the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Nashville Chapter as well as in three quartets over a dozen years. He served in several Chapter leadership roles including Chorus Manager, Executive Vice-President, President, and Treasurer. He is proud to have co-chaired the Nashville Chapter’s Host Committee for the Society’s 2016 International Convention and Contest. He also served as Treasurer of the Society district that covered Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee for three years.
George, an accountant and accounting technology expert, retired from the performing rights organization, BMI, in 2022. He was active in the company’s Toastmasters club, serving as its charter Vice-President of Education, and later serving terms as President and Treasurer. George and Betty relocated to Colfax, North Carolina to enjoy closeness with family in retirement. He is a member of the Choral Society of Greensboro since 2022, and is honored to serve as its current Treasurer. George is a voice student in the studio of Jeffrey Carlson, and studies flamenco dance in the studio of Velmy Trinidad at the Greensboro Cultural Center. He is excited to begin his first season with Gate City Voices.
