James was born in Winston-Salem, NC. While he has lived in various places across the country including Virginia and California, his roots in the Triad are deep and he returned to the Greensboro area in 1998 where he and his wife, Gerrie, raised their family and still reside today. Professionally, James is a member of the leadership team for a large technology services company based in Maryland.
His vocal performance experience spans 48 years going back to his high school days. Over the years his choral/musical theatre highlights include a stint as “Policeman” in a regional touring production of The Pirates of Penzance and more traditional classical literature with Ambassador Choral, Victoria Symphony, Eastern Music Festival, Asheville Symphony, and others.
More recently, James has been a member of the Choral Society of Greensboro, under the direction of Dr. Jon Brotherton, for over 16 years and has served on the board in multiple positions including president, treasurer and past president. He has also performed extensively with the Greensboro Symphony over the years both with the Choral Society and with the Greensboro Symphony Master Chorale.
Finally, James recently accepted a position on the board of The Choral Arts Collective. He is extremely excited to serve in that capacity and for another wonderful season with Gate City Voices
