Rachel Riskind has been singing alto since 1994, when she discovered that choral music offered both intellectual challenge and communal connection—a combination that’s kept her returning to the alto section for three decades. She’s performed under conductors like Sandra Piques Eddy, Faith Lueth, Nathan Leaf, Michael Slon, Wendy Looker, and Sarah Riskind.
Rachel holds no formal music degrees (though she strategically skipped high school classes to crash AP Music Theory—a decision that reflected clear priorities if questionable attendance practices). She’s a Professor Emerita of Psychology at Guilford College and founder of Rachel Riskind Consulting, where she partners with organizations serving marginalized youth and families to evaluate programs, strengthen outcomes, and secure sustainable funding.
When not rehearsing, you’ll find her translating developmental science into practical applications, working alongside clients to solve real organizational challenges, or driving her 3 kids back and forth across the city.
