When Sheila was 3 years old her father walked by her crib and heard her humming the Marines Hymn. He was a bit disappointed because he was an Army man. And, so her love of music and singing began at a very early age. Never formally trained, Sheila has always had songs and harmonies floating through her head and is known to burst out in song whenever the spirit moves her. Music and singing have been a part of her life with full-throated family sing-a-longs during long car rides, high school and college chorus experiences, and serving as a cantor for her church in New Jersey. Sheila retired from her 37-year government career, relocated to North Carolina, and then began part-time consulting, designing and delivering leadership training, as well as serving as a leadership coach. She enjoys walks with her husband and dog, kayaking, playing pickleball, gardening, volunteering, and reading cheap dime-store novels. Sheila currently sings with the Choral Society of Greensboro and is honored to be an original member of Gate City Voices.
