Those interested in auditioning should submit an Audition Request by July 18th using the form at the end of this page.
What to Expect
Everyone will have approximately 5 minutes for an individual audition AND approximately 20 minutes to come together to sing as a group. You will be asked to sing three excerpts (to be provided upon scheduling an audition) from representative season repertoire. The individual auditions may include both vocalizing for range/timbre and singing one or more of the excerpts. The group auditions will be held at the end of each audition day, utilizing the excerpts to assess how singers fit within the larger ensemble. Dr. Young may have you sing all together, or in smaller groups during this time. The process will mirror, in miniature, a Bel Canto rehearsal and will allow us to assess how your uniquely beautiful instrument might fit with the ensemble and work in the repertoire planned for our upcoming season.
We will begin scheduling specific audition times approximately two weeks before the first auditions. At that time we will notify all who are accepted for an audition at what time and day we would like to hear you. Please indicate in your cover letter if you have any time or date conflicts.
In the event there are more singers auditioning than can be heard in two days, we will hold a third day of auditions on Monday, 8/1 from 6:30pm-9:30pm.
We look forward to hearing you and please let us know if your have any questions!
