Bel Canto Company, the Piedmont’s premier choral ensemble offers a performance that is uplifting and humorous but also heartrending. More than a backdrop to our lives, thoughtful, beautiful music can reveal truths about human nature we had not yet realized.
In this concert that celebrates endurance and transformation, Bel Canto brings us the broad spectrum of emotion, and human experience in music about war, forgiveness, praise and love in times of adversity. Selections include: Veljis Tormis’s Curse Upon Iron, Arvo Part’s Berliner Messe, and music by Gerald Finzi, Craig Hella Johnson, Mack Wilberg, Moses Hogan, Morten Lauridsen and more.
Featuring Special Guests: Dan Callaway, tenor; Robert Wells, baritone; Christina Palermo, percussion;
John Alexander, organ; Deborah Egekvist, flute
Both performances of In Time of Strife are at First Presbyterian Church.
