Summary
Greensboro Youth Chorus is dedicated to helping students develop their musical talents, nurturing their love for music, and creating a strong sense of community through the joy of singing together. We provide a positive and supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and express themselves as talented musicians, amazing performers, and exceptional individuals.
With choirs for grades K-12, we help youth explore their love of singing. Our students learn music-reading, sight-singing, and choral techniques. We perform a wide range of repertoire from diverse places, times, and composers. Through music we foster cultural awareness, community involvement, collaboration, and friendship.
The Music Explorers Conductor and Assistant Apprentice Choir Conductor helps The Choral Arts Collective achieve our vision of community that celebrates excellence, diversity, and lifelong participation in choral music. The Conductor is an energetic and enthusiastic musician with a passion for education and particularly for teaching elementary music students. The Conductor will teach the members of Greensboro Youth Chorus not only music and singing, but also to foster inner qualities such as personal and group responsibility, independence, discipline, commitment, teamwork, and self-esteem.
The Conductor will be responsible for teaching an age-appropriate music and singing curriculum to students enrolled in Music Explorers (grades K-2), preparing concerts during the season as appropriate, and communicating with parents/guardians of Greensboro Youth Chorus members regarding all aspects of rehearsal and performances.
During the 2025-2026 Season, the Conductor will also serve as Assistant Apprentice Choir Conductor (grades 3-5), with the expectation of promotion to Apprentice Choir Conductor. They will assist The Greensboro Youth Chorus Director in leading weekly Apprentice Choir rehearsals and be responsible for conducting a portion of the season’s repertoire.
This role is primarily focused on leading Music Explorers and serving as Assistant Apprentice Choir Conductor. We are especially interested in candidates who bring additional strengths to the role. About The Choral Arts Collective
The vision of The Choral Arts Collective is a community that celebrates excellence, diversity, and lifelong participation in choral music. Building on more than 40 years as pillars of the Greensboro performing arts community, The Collective was established in 2021 through the merger of Bel Canto Company and Greensboro Youth Chorus. It was formed out of the shared desire of the two non-profits to build an intergenerational and equitable choral organization serving the Piedmont Triad and beyond. We believe that providing excellent choral programming – ranging from music education to professional concerts – creates accessible and lifelong sources of enjoyment, fulfillment, and artistic expression for all, regardless of age, education, experience, or background.
Our mission is simple: to create engaging, inclusive, and entertaining choral experiences. Currently, The Choral Arts Collective includes three ensembles to carry out our mission:
Bel Canto Company
Founded in 1982, Bel Canto Company is a vocal ensemble of professional musicians, long recognized as the Triad’s premier choir.
Greensboro Youth Chorus
Founded in 1987, Greensboro Youth Chorus is comprised of four different choirs for students in grades K through 12, dedicated to teaching music and life skills through choral performance.
Gate City Voices
Founded in 2022, Gate City Voices is an opportunity for community singers in search of distinctive performance opportunities to sing exciting, largescale repertoire with Bel Canto Company.
